Marty and Ev's Excellent Rides
"Ride to Live, Live to Ride"
When I was young, I had a muscle car - 1968 Firebird 400 with a Hearst 4 speed transmission. I drove that car across the USA at least 5 times. I now regret ever trading it in. It was my first car and it introduced me to the "road". I am one of those few that would rather drive someplace than fly there. To me the adventure of getting there is half the fun. Luckily I found a woman who likes the road as much as I do (but honestly she would rather get there a little faster). That would be Ev.
To make a long story short, about the year 2001, I was introduced to the two wheeled variety of motorized transportation and regained the feeling of actually riding the "road" that I had with that Firebird. After upgrading several times, we now have a Harley Davidson Road King (named appropriately for me). The amazing thing about Ev is that she loves the two wheel ride as much as I do and she instigates a ride as often as I do.
My Harley does not sit in the garage. I ride it everyday to work and whenever possible to run errands etc. Ev and I ride on it to church and around town just for the fun of it. Several times a month we go on rides with our HOG chapter or some other organization. But then there is more. We love the "road" so much that we have an RV which of course has a garage in the back for the Harley. So at least once a month we hit the open road for distant locations with the RV and the Harley securely tucked inside. Our destinations are rural and urban and everything inbetween. And when we get there, out comes the Harley and off we go.
During the summer months (we are both teachers) we are on the road for 10 solid weeks, traversing this country and Canada. You can check on our latest adventures at www.excellentrvadventures.com - the link is on the left of this page.
As we ride, we want to share the experience with others. This website will be that vehicle. Click on the "Motorcycle Rides" link to see a list of rides we have been on. The ride pages have pictures and maps and when we feel the need, a narrative about some of the rides adventures.
There are also links to Harley Davidson, H.O.G, Motorcycleroads.US, sites for motorcycle events and any other sites that may be of interest.
Ride smart, ride safe - ride to live and live to ride.
